HARVEST SWING

We hope everyone who attended Harvest Swing enjoyed themselves. If you have a comment about the dance please email the Club, leave a message on the Club’s answering machine or fill out a green feedback form in class. Thanks to our Social Coordinator, Lydia Howell, and our Decorations Coordinator, Kristy James, and the other Club volunteers who assisted with organizing and decorating for this event.

MISTLETOES

The next major Club dance is Mistletoes held at TCU Place on November 26th, 2011. This dinner dance event is not to be missed. Come and see our instructors and our members dance team perform. Tickets go on sale Sunday October 30th at the member price of $40 and non member price of $55. Dance only tickets are also available at the member price of $20 and non member price of $30.

CLUB WORKSHOPS

The Club's first member workshops will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 22nd and 23rd. Attending a workshop is free but you must have your membership card with you to attend. The sessions will be taught by our Principal Instructor, Michael Milette and the dance taught this time will be waltz at all three levels. The sessions on Sunday will be the same as those on Saturday, but the times and sequence of levels differ. Please consult the poster on the music cabinet in class or the Club website for details. If you wish to take a second workshop, the cost is $10.00. You may not transfer your membership to allow another person to take your place at the workshop.

The workshop will be held at Holliston School, 1511 Louise Avenue, south of 8th Street. Use the entrance on the south side of the building. Nancy’s Dancin' from Regina is not available to sell dance shoes during the workshops.

PRACTICE SESSIONS

Remember you can practice what you have learned in class by going to Club practice sessions at Grosvenor Park United Church. One session is held on Mondays from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m., the other on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. These sessions are open to any Club member, as they are included as part of your membership. There is no formal instruction but an instructor will usually be present to answer your questions and give you help.

BEGINNER CLASSES ONLY

There will be a Beginners Only dance on Friday, November 4th from 7:00pm – 10:00 pm at St. Joes Hall. 535 8th Street East. This dance is only for dancers registered in a beginner’s class. Tickets are available at the door at a cost of $5.00 per person WITH presentation of your member card. Watch for more details on the Club website.

FINANCIAL OFFICER REQUIRED

Allison has been the Club’s Financial Officer for the past three years and her term is coming to an end. At the General Meeting on November 30, 2011 at 7:00 pm, U of S Campus, Arts 133, the Club will need to elect a new volunteer Financial Officer. Familiarity with simply accounting would be beneficial but not required. If you think you might be interested, please do not hesitate to contact the Club or her at allison.bdc@gmail.com for more information. Our General Meeting is only six weeks away. Please consider having your name stand for this or any of our other Executive member positions.
