Announcements for Week 2

Membership Cards All Levels

We are working on preparing your member cards. Cards will be available in the next couple weeks in one of the classes you are registered in. Your member card number would have been in your registration e-mail if you need it immediately. Your membership card is used to grant you entrance to your weekly class. Please don’t lose it! You can take a picture of it with your phone; or laminate it to keep it safe. It is also the most convenient way to access our dances, workshops and other events.

Class Transfers Intermediate Advanced Reference if Needed

If you are finding the time of your class or level of your class is not working out, you are able to put in a transfer request by filling out the form on our website. Class transfer requests are subject to both executive and instructor approval and there are no refunds for transferring to a lower level class.

Late in Person Registration All Levels

There will be one last in person registration for classes on Saturday, September 21st, 2019. We will be taking registrations at the Bowl at the University of Saskatchewan from 11:00am — 4:00pm;

Members Dance Team Registration Intermediate Advanced

The members dance performance team will be learning and performing a Tango routine at our Mistletoes Ball formal dance in November. Intermediate and advanced dancers are welcomed to join this performance taught by Bernadette and Gee. Classes are Wednesdays at Trinity Hall from 8:15pm — 9:45 pm starting Wednesday, September 18th, 2019. Registration will take place before the first class of the term from 7:45pm — 8:15pm. Cost is $125 and includes a dinner dance ticket to Mistletoes.

September Monthly Dance All Levels

Our social dance for September will be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2019. Please remember clean dancing shoes and your member card.

Volunteers All Levels

If you are interested in volunteering with the club please contact our volunteer coordinator on our website. We are looking for help:

  • At dances
  • At workshops
  • With registration
  • Advertising events

All volunteers who donate 6 or more hours of their time to the club will receive: an invitation to early registration in July for the upcoming dance year, a Volunteer Collector’s piece of club merchandise (selected by the executive each year) and complimentary entry to the next years monthly dances (note that perks are non-transferable).

Volunteer Lead / Follow Program All Levels

Our club is always looking for leads and follows to help balance out role ratios in our classes. If you are interested in helping balance classes please fill out the volunteer lead/follow form on our website and return to the club. Volunteers will be assigned based on availability on form and instructor requests. For more information on the program visit our website.

Executive Positions to Fill All Levels

We currently have vacant executive positions and are looking for interested members to contact our president to learn more about the roles. We are looking for:

  • Vice President: responsible for booking facilities for classes and workshops, managing facility issues and facility key control. Assisting the president where needed.

All our announcements and event information will be posted on our website ( for easy access. We also encourage you follow us on twitter (@uofsbdc) and like our facebook page for up-to-date information on workshops, dances and events.

Practice Session

Our first practice session (which is term one only) will be held Thursdays at Nutana Legion from 6:30pm till 7:30pm.

Our second practice session will be held Thursdays at Grosvenor Park United Church from 7:45pm till 8:45pm.

Practice sessions start the second week of classes (Thursday, September 19th, 2019).

Missing Classes

There is nothing to worry about if you have to miss a class. Attending the next weeks class for your session is the best way to catch up on what you missed.

Keep Personal Effects on You

Please bring your shoes and personal effects in with you and not left unattended in waiting areas. This is for security of your personal belongings.

Clean Shoes

Please make sure that you have a clean, dry pair of non-marking shoes to use in classes and at our events and dances.

  • Remove dirty outdoor shoes before entering the dance floor.
  • Avoid putting dirty shoes on chairs or other furniture.
  • Scrape dust from dance shoes into garbage bins; and never on the dance floors.

Member Cards

Your membership card is the easiest way to register for check in to club events. Make sure to have it on you or have a picture of it on your phone.

Confirmation Emails

When you register for our events; the confirmation e-mail sent out is your guarantee that a registration went through. Make sure to contact the club if you do not receive an e-mail for a class or formal dance you registered for.
