Beginner Semestered Classes

The same amount of material is taught at all levels. What is taught changes. Dancers will benefit equally from taking any level of instruction and, as each level builds upon the one before it, will usually improve their dancing more by enrolling at the lower levels.

Semestered Beginner is the same as beginner, but the class is only one term. Half the dances from the beginner curriculum are typically taught, and which dances taught are dependant on which term you are registered in.

Beginner Semestered follows the beginner curriculum and students learn 4 core dances during the term.

Term 1 is Sept—Nov and will include Foxtrot, Rumba and Jive. Term 2 is Jan—March and will include Waltz, Cha Cha and Jive.

The fourth dance in each term will be either Tango or Salsa with the class members deciding which dance they would prefer to learn in that term. For example; if your Term 1 class decides that they would like to do Tango, then the Salsa will be taught in Term 2.

This format allows students to concentrate on fewer dances at one time. Each term focuses on three dances plus both terms include Jive. Students will learn, with the two terms of semestered classes, the same syllabus as a full year of beginners. In the fall, students can register for Term 1 with an opportunity to sign-up for term 2 late in the season given. A registration period is also held late November to early January should students wish to register for Term 2 only at that time.
